How to improve the mind
Easy — Read.
In a world full of pictures and videos providing entertainment and engagement. Let’s not forget about the vast amount of imaginative reading material we have available to us.
All the books.
All the articles.
All the artifacts.
All of these are divine doorways to mind expansion and reading is the key.
Let’s time travel for a second, before schools, colleges and universities existed. This was a much simpler time. Those who desired brainpower; read. They improved their intellect by reading, books of value and substance — topics irrelevant. They became ever-absorbent sponges of knowledge.
The more they read, the wiser they became. The wiser they became, the more they thought. The more they thought, the more they came into awareness. To be conscious of your awareness is to improve your mind.
It is to become mindful.
Your brain is your greatest muscle. Treat it as so. Every day we exercise it from the minute we open our eyes to the minute we rest our heads on the pillow. Can you imagine if athletes trained every waking moment? They would need a lot of rest and recovery, plus some serious stretching.
So think about reading as the equivalent of yoga. Yoga for the mind — strengthening and stretching your perspectives and adding mindfulness to your mindset.
Today, it’s tough to motivate ourselves to read when it’s so easy to move our thumb up and down a screen or press play on one of the latest film releases. So, pick a book by the title or cover — Yes, I said it.
I believe that each title, cover, or cover image was chosen with intention. To engage and inspire its readers. To create a link between the written words and our aesthetics. There’s so much crafted information out there just waiting to entice our unique individual minds.
So go on.
